Border-ly Ever After?
The beading fever started out with this gorgeous necklace, whose original design of turquoise and gold was by Janet Palumbo & Reem Iversen. It was a great learning-opportunity piece and only encouraged my interest and love for bead-woven jewelry. It took several days to wrap my head around the different techniques, but it all clicked in the end. It floored me with how strong the necklace is knowing no knots or adhesives were needed in making it!
I was so pleased with the color combination that it influenced many of my succeeding designs. Additionally, this necklace has a pair of earrings that are reversible! A really great design all around - thank you Janet.
So, looking at the whole set, what I love most is the champagne-beaded border that outlines the entire piece, giving it a smart finished look. Seen with my following works, a border really gives pieces that finishing touch and steps it up from a lovely and casual piece to something elegant and classy.
However, not all pieces really need a border, but for a night on the town or when attending a fancy occasion, a jewelry piece made with this technique is the perfect spice to a classy outfit.
